My sister never eats McDonalds but is a huge fan of BTS and was upset she couldn't get it in Japan 😆

Not sure how helpful these stunts are in building brand loyalty with consumers, but they definitely 1) get attention and 2) are effective rebranding strategies. I still don't think it's a replacement for a high-quality product/service, but I agree that attention also has lots of value these days.
