Definitely! Sugar and corn subsidies in the United States and the money involved in the industry has fueled a horrible epidemic, influencing many companies to prioritize profits and promote bigger sizes (many people coming to Japan will feel understandably snubbed by fast food chains here, with their smaller portions). As much as individual choices matter, there is a lot of responsibility on the government level to lower these sugar and corn subsidies to create a society of more equitable health.
